Current status
Our independent test programme is planned but has not yet published any results. We will update this page, and our updates log, when testing begins and when results are available. Nothing on this site should be read as describing independent test results we haven’t published.
Why independent testing matters
Most laboratory reports consumers see are commissioned by brands, which choose the laboratory, the sample and the tests. That is normal practice, and many brand-commissioned reports are excellent evidence. Independent testing adds something different: products bought the way a consumer buys them, tested on the same panel, with no input from the brand; see independent vs brand-provided COAs.
How the programme is designed to work
- Anonymous purchaseProducts bought from normal retail channels at normal prices.
- Record keepingBatch number, date mark, seller and condition recorded on arrival.
- Accredited laboratoryAn ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratory for the tests used.[1]
- Consistent panelThe same core panel for every product.
- PublicationFull results published, including any that are unfavourable.
Our methodology is set out in independent lab-testing methodology.
The intended panel
What we do until then
Until the programme publishes results, our evaluations combine three things: brands’ own published laboratory reports, read critically against our checklist; first-hand checks, such as making a purchase, inspecting the delivery and matching the jar’s batch number to its report; and the published research. We say clearly which evidence comes from which source; see how we review products.
First-hand checks in practice
For our Nature Elixirs evaluation, we placed an order, received the jar by Royal Mail, and checked its product and batch identity against the AGROLAB LUFA report for batch SJ2509.[4] That is a first-hand check of the link between product and documentation, not an independent laboratory test, and we describe it that way. Nature Elixirs is a brand evaluated by Best Shilajit UK. Read our evaluation to see the evidence and documentation we reviewed.
What independent testing will and won’t show
Independent testing shows what was in the specific samples tested. Like any testing, it describes particular batches, not every jar a brand ever sells. Its value lies in consistency, independence and comparability across brands; see what a consumer testing programme can show.
Funding and independence
We will disclose how the programme is funded. Brands won’t be told in advance which products are being tested, won’t choose the samples, and won’t be able to alter results. Our wider policies are on editorial independence and conflicts of interest.
Suggest a product
If there is a product you would like to see tested, contact us at info@bestshilajituk.com. Suggestions will help us prioritise once testing begins.
Why consistency across brands matters
Brand-commissioned reports differ in laboratory, panel, units and detection limits, which makes direct comparison hard. Testing every product with the same laboratory and panel would allow like-for-like comparison, which is one of the main benefits an independent programme can offer readers.
How results will be presented
The plan is to publish each product’s results in full, with the laboratory report, batch number, purchase date and seller, and to explain any limitations. Products will be compared on the same basis, and any brand that disputes a result will be able to respond, with its response noted alongside the result.
What you can do now
Until independent results are available, use the same checks we use: ask for the batch report, match the batch number, and read the report critically with our line-by-line guide.
Why we are careful about this
Independent testing is often claimed loosely online. We think it is important to say clearly when testing hasn’t happened yet, so readers can judge our evaluations on the evidence they actually rest on. That way, nothing we publish depends on testing that hasn’t happened, and readers always know exactly where each piece of evidence came from. We think that matters.
The bottom line
Our independent test programme is planned and hasn’t published results yet. When it does, it will test anonymously bought products on a consistent panel at an accredited laboratory. Until then, we rely on brands’ own reports, read critically, and first-hand checks, and we say which is which.

Which tests will be included?
Lead, cadmium, mercury, arsenic and microbiology as a core panel, with additional tests where feasible.
Will unfavourable results be published?
Yes. The plan is to publish full results.
What first-hand checks do you do now?
