- Lists studies cited on this site, newest first.
- Shows what each study adds and its evidence type.
- Notes whether a study changed a rating.
- Updated as significant studies are published.
How this log works
Each entry gives the year, the study, its evidence type, what it adds and its effect on our ratings. We include studies that matter for evidence ratings or safety guidance, rather than every paper that mentions shilajit. Rating changes are recorded on our updates log, and ratings are explained on evidence by topic.

What we add to the log
- Human trialsOf any size, on any topic.
- Systematic reviewsAnd meta-analyses.
- Safety and contamination studiesIncluding analytical studies of products.
- Significant preclinical workWhere it changes understanding or raises concerns.
- Regulatory statementsAffecting UK buyers, noted on our UK legal status page.
Reading the log
A new study doesn’t automatically change a rating. A single small trial may support an existing rating; independent replication or a larger, longer trial is usually needed to move a topic up. A study raising safety concerns may change our guidance even if it doesn’t affect a rating; see how to use an evidence rating.
Ratings changed by recent studies
None of the studies listed above has raised a topic above Limited. The 2026 cancer review confirmed the existing Preclinical only rating, and the 2025 thallium study informed our testing guidance rather than a benefit rating.[1][2]
Suggest a study
If you know of a shilajit study we haven’t covered, email info@bestshilajituk.com with a link. We review suggestions against the criteria above.
How to read the studies yourself
For a step-by-step approach to any study in this log, see how to read a shilajit study, and for what remains unknown, evidence gaps.
Putting it into practice
If you read news about a new shilajit study, check whether it is a human trial, how many people took part and which preparation was used, then look for it here. If it isn’t listed yet, tell us.
A note on preclinical entries
We include preclinical studies only where they change understanding or raise safety questions, such as the laboratory finding that shilajit reduced the effect of two chemotherapy drugs on lung cancer cells.[15] Preclinical entries never raise a topic above Preclinical only on our scale; see human vs animal evidence.
Limits of this log
This log lists studies cited on our site, not every shilajit publication. Many papers are small preclinical studies with little bearing on what buyers need to know. If a study you consider important is missing, please tell us.
In short
This log shows the evidence behind our ratings and how it has changed. Check it when you hear about a new shilajit study, and tell us if something important is missing.
How we assess each study
For every study added, we note the population, design, preparation, dose, duration and funding, and decide whether it affects a rating or our safety guidance; see how to read a study. That consistency lets readers see why each study matters and how it fits with the rest of the evidence. We review the log regularly. New entries are added as studies are published and assessed.
The bottom line
This log records the shilajit studies behind our ratings and safety guidance, what each adds and whether it changed a rating. No recent study has raised a topic above Limited. We add significant studies as they are published.
